Mathis Schnell
Mathis Schnell is a doctoral researcher and teaching assistant at the Laboratoire d'études des processus sociaux (LAPS) and is associated with the National Center of Competence in Research (NCCR) – on the move. He joined the institute in October 2019.
In his doctoral thesis, he investigates how institutions in Switzerland assess asylum claims based on the persecution due to sexual orientation and/or gender identity (SOGI). Using quantitative and qualitative approaches, he investigates what reasonings, frames and narratives are to be found in the related institutional practices. He is supervised by Prof. Dr. Janine Dahinden and Prof. Dr. Philip Balsiger.
He is also engaged as teaching assistant in the two BA-courses “Introduction à la statistique (Statistique I)” and “Statistique appliquée aux sciences sociales (Statistique II)”.
Mathis Schnell holds a degree in political science from the University of Zurich (UZH).
