Preisig, Giona

I am a geologist/hydrogeologist particularly interested in the role of groundwater in geologic processes, such as deep-seated gravitational slope movements, faults/fractures response to fluid flow (hydrotectonics) and internal hydraulic erosion in aquifers constituted of unconsolidated deposits (erosion piping). Others fields of interest include the interaction between anthropogenic structures, e.g. tunnels, or activities, e.g. massive pumping, with groundwater systems. These topics require a detailed understanding of i) the 3D geometry of geological formations, as well as ii) the heterogeneity of their properties. I tackle these subjects by combining field methods, e.g. geophysical surveys, hydrogeological testing, with advanced numerical modelling.
